Privacy & Storage

Your Data Stays With You.

Wildheart Fiction uses browser storage to power optional reading features such as bookmarks, reading progress, completed chapters, Your Shelf, and series ratings. Reading progress and bookmarks remain in your browser. Ratings use a small anonymous identifier so your selection can be remembered and counted without requiring an account.

What is stored in your browser

If you accept browser storage, Wildheart Fiction may save the following information in your browser:

  • Your current series, book, and chapter.
  • Which chapters you have started or completed.
  • Your saved reading bookmarks and selected passage information.
  • The information needed to restore Your Shelf and continue-reading features.
  • Your series rating selections.
  • An anonymous browser identifier used to prevent duplicate ratings.
  • Your storage preference, including whether you accepted or denied storage.

Reading data

Reading progress, completed chapter history, bookmarks, and Your Shelf data are stored locally in your browser. Wildheart Fiction does not require an account to use these features, and this reading data is not sent to the Wildheart Fiction ratings service.

Series ratings

Series ratings are optional and become available after you complete at least three chapters in a series. If you submit a rating, Wildheart Fiction sends the series identifier, your selected star rating, and an anonymous browser identifier to the Wildheart Fiction ratings service.

Why browser storage is used

Browser storage is used only to provide optional site features, including:

  • Your Shelf.
  • Continue-reading behavior.
  • Chapter completion indicators.
  • Series and book resume behavior.
  • Inline bookmarks and restored reading positions.
  • Remembering your series rating selections.
  • Maintaining the anonymous identifier used for ratings.

If you deny storage

You can still read all available fiction normally. Features that depend on saved browser data will not function as intended, including bookmarks, reading progress, completed chapter history, Your Shelf, and series ratings.

How long data remains

Reading data remains in your browser until you clear your Fiction reading data, clear your browser storage, or change your storage preference. Submitted ratings remain in the Wildheart Fiction ratings database unless the rating is changed or removed. The anonymous browser identifier and your local rating selections are stored in your browser while browser storage remains available.

Your control

You can clear saved Fiction reading progress from Your Shelf, change or remove a series rating from that series page, and change whether browser storage is permitted using the controls below.

Storage preference

You can change whether Wildheart Fiction may use browser storage for optional reading and rating features.
